When memory starts to slip, the whole family feels it. Familiar routines turn confusing, small moments turn stressful, and the person you love can seem just out of reach. This is where Aloha dementia care steps in: a calm, patient presence who moves at your loved one's pace and helps the day feel steadier for everyone.

It is non-medical, nurse led, and built around the person your loved one still is.

Why it matters

A Familiar Face When Memory Fades

Dementia does not just change memory. It changes how the whole day feels. A task that was simple yesterday can feel overwhelming today, and a rushed or unfamiliar helper can make the confusion worse.

A calm, consistent caregiver changes that. Someone who meets a hard moment with patience instead of correction, and who learns the routines and stories that bring comfort. Because our team is nurse led, that same caregiver also picks up on shifts in mood, sleep, or appetite and lets your family know early.

You cannot argue someone out of confusion. You can only meet them where they are, with patience.

What's included

Support That Meets the Day With Calm

Every plan is shaped around your loved one's stage, their routines, and what brings them comfort. It often includes:

  • A calm, familiar presence

The same trusted caregiver, so faces and routines stay steady from one visit to the next.

  • Help with daily routines

Patient, unhurried help with bathing, dressing, grooming, and the rhythm of the day.

  • Gentle redirection

Meeting confusion or frustration with reassurance and a calm change of pace, never a correction.

  • Reassurance through the day

A steady presence through the daytime and the harder evening hours, with your family kept closely informed.

  • Familiar activities

Music, old photos, a favorite chair by the window, and simple activities that spark connection.

  • Meals and hydration

Preparing familiar, appealing meals and gently encouraging your loved one to eat and drink.

  • Medication reminders

Gentle reminders so daily medications stay on schedule, in step with your family.

  • Respite for family

Time for you to rest, work, or simply breathe, knowing someone patient is right there.

The Aloha difference

Dementia Care With a Nurse's Eye

With memory loss, who shows up matters even more than what they do. The wrong helper can deepen the confusion. The right one brings calm, a familiar rhythm, and the patience to meet each moment as it comes, so your loved one feels at ease and your family feels the weight lift a little.

  • The same familiar caregiver

Consistency is everything with dementia. Your loved one sees one trusted face, not a rotating cast of strangers.

  • Nurse led oversight

Maya German, RN and our team notice the changes that matter and tell your family early. Medical decisions stay with your loved one's doctor.

  • Experienced with memory loss

Every caregiver is background checked and experienced in patient, respectful, non-medical support for people living with dementia.

  • Available 24/7

From a few hours of relief to overnight and around the clock presence, care flexes as needs change.

Home vs a memory care community

Which Setting Fits Your Family?

One of the hardest decisions families face is whether to bring support home or move to a memory care community. Here is an honest look at both, so you can choose with clear eyes. We are glad to talk it through, with no pressure.

Dementia Care at Home

Familiar surroundings, one on one attention

Setting
Their own home, with the routines, photos, and comforts they know
Attention
One on one, from a consistent, personally matched caregiver
What it is
Non-medical support with daily life, reassurance, and companionship
Safety and supervision
Attentive one on one presence, but not a locked or constantly monitored setting
Flexibility
From a few hours to around the clock, adjusted as needs change

Memory Care Community

A residential facility setting

Setting
A move to a licensed residential community away from home
Attention
Shared among staff across many residents
What it is
Housing plus structured group programming
Safety and supervision
A secured environment with staff on site around the clock
Flexibility
Set schedules and a fixed living arrangement

Aloha provides non-medical support at home only. We are not a medical provider or a residential facility, and non-medical support is not around the clock one to one supervision. For a loved one who needs a secured, constantly staffed setting, a memory care community may be the safer fit, and we will tell you so honestly. If your family needs more than we offer, we will gladly help you find it.

How it works

Getting Started Is Simple

  1. 1

    We listen

A free consultation to understand your loved one's stage, their routines, and what a good day looks like for them.

  2. 2

    We match

We choose a caregiver by patience and temperament, and build a calm, familiar plan around real life.

  3. 3

    We stay close

Your caregiver settles in, our nurse led team stays close, and your family can finally exhale.

Is it time?

Signs It Might Be Time

Families often wait until a scare. You do not have to. It may be time if you have noticed:

Noticing even one or two is reason enough to reach out. There is never a wrong time to ask, and the first conversation is always free.

Schedule a Free Consultation
  • Repeating the same questions, or forgetting recent conversations
  • Confusion about time, place, or once familiar faces
  • Missed medications, unpaid bills, or food left too long in the fridge
  • Unsafe moments, like the stove left on or getting lost on a familiar route
  • A family caregiver who is worn thin and running on empty
Dementia questions

Dementia Support, Answered

Straight answers to what San Diego families ask us most about dementia support at home.

What does non-medical dementia care include?

It is patient, in home support for daily life: a calm and familiar caregiver, help with bathing, dressing, and routines, gentle redirection through confusing moments, familiar activities, meals, medication reminders, and relief for family. It does not include nursing or any care a doctor orders.

Can a caregiver help with the harder moments of dementia?

Yes, in a non-medical way. Our caregivers are experienced in meeting agitation, repetition, or confusion with patience, reassurance, and a calm change of pace rather than correction. For new symptoms or any medical concern, we always point your family back to your loved one's doctor.

Will my parent have the same caregiver each time?

That is our goal, and it matters more with dementia than almost anything. A consistent, familiar face keeps routines steady and builds the trust that makes each visit easier. We match thoughtfully and work to keep that caregiver with your family.

What if my loved one does not want help?

This is common and completely understandable. Our caregivers lead with patience and never force. They build trust slowly, often starting simply as a friendly visitor, so help feels like company rather than a loss of control.

Is this the same as a memory care facility?

No. A memory care facility is a residential move away from home. Aloha brings non-medical support into your loved one's own home, one on one, so they can stay in the surroundings they know. If a facility ever becomes the right choice, we will help you weigh it honestly.

Do you provide overnight care for someone with dementia?

Yes. Dementia does not keep business hours, and neither do we. Care flexes from a few hours of daytime relief to overnight or around the clock presence, all non-medical, across San Diego County.
