Non-medical care around the clock

24 Hour Home Care in La Jolla, San Diego

Sometimes a few hours a day is no longer enough. Nights get restless, a fall leaves everyone nervous, or a spouse simply cannot keep watch alone anymore. Aloha Senior Home Care provides 24 hour home care in La Jolla: caregivers in shifts, awake and on duty day and night, each scheduled to be awake and on duty in your loved one's own home.

Every shift is non-medical, nurse led and planned around your loved one, from the morning routine to the quiet hours after midnight.

No cost to talk it through. Tell us how the nights are going, and we will plan from there.

When the nights get hard

Why Families Move to Care Around the Clock

Most families do not start here. They begin with a few mornings a week, then add afternoons, then find that the real trouble is at night: a parent up and wandering at two, a husband afraid to sleep in case his wife gets out of bed alone, a daughter driving up Mount Soledad at midnight because the phone rang.

Round the clock care is how many families handle that. Because we do not offer live in care, every overnight caregiver is awake and working, not resting in a spare room, and hands over to the next shift with notes on how the night went.

Every corner of the neighborhood
  • Bird Rock
  • La Jolla Shores
  • The Village
  • Muirlands
  • Mount Soledad
  • Windansea
  • Shifts, not a single sleeper

Usually two twelve hour shifts or three eight hour ones. Each caregiver arrives rested and leaves a written handover for the next.

  • A team you get to know

Round the clock care takes several people. We keep the same small group, so your loved one is not greeted by a stranger at night.

  • Nights that stay calm

Help to the bathroom, a drink of water, a hand when sleep will not come. Someone awake and close by, without the house feeling like a ward.

  • Days that stay full

Round the clock does not mean housebound. Daytime shifts still include walks, the Village, visits with friends and appointments.

Getting Around the Neighborhood

With care around the clock, there is always someone to drive. Appointments, the pharmacy, a meal out or a drive along the coast happen on the daytime shift, and the evening caregiver hears how the day went at handover. Families who used to plan their own lives around those trips get their time back.

Somebody awake in the house, every hour, so the rest of the family can finally sleep.
Setting it up

Setting Up Care Around the Clock

  1. 1

    We map a full day

What happens at seven in the morning, at four in the afternoon and at three in the night, so every shift knows its part.

  2. 2

    We build the team

A small group of caregivers, introduced before they start, with a lead your family can call.

  3. 3

    We review often

Our nurse led team reads the handover notes and adjusts the plan, including stepping care back down when that is right.

Round the clock questions

Questions About 24 Hour Care in La Jolla

What families ask before care runs day and night.

Is 24 hour home care the same as live in care?

No. Aloha Senior Home Care does not offer live in care. Our 24 hour home care in La Jolla uses caregivers working shifts, usually two twelve hour shifts or three eight hour ones, so the person with your loved one is scheduled to be awake and on duty.

How is round the clock care charged?

By the hour, for the hours a caregiver is on duty. Before care begins we put the full schedule and exactly what it costs in writing, and you can step it back down whenever needs change.

Can round the clock care start straight after a hospital stay?

Yes, and that is one of the most common reasons it begins. We arrange shifts as quickly as we can, and round the clock help is usually most needed in the first weeks home. The support is non-medical; nursing, therapy and medical follow up stay with your loved one's doctors.

Will different caregivers come at night?

A small, consistent team covers the shifts, and they are introduced before they start. Each one leaves notes for the next, so your loved one is not explaining themselves to a stranger at two in the morning. Call (858) 399-1400 to plan it.
